Amber Pills.

Take Ambergrise 2 grains; Musk, Salt of Hartshorn, each 1 grain; Opium 3 grains; Balsam of Peru as much as is sufficient; bring it into three Pills for three Doses; but be sure to beat it well, that the Opium may be well divided.

These are serviceable against a Singultus. But when this Symptom happens in constinual and malignant Fevers, we must be very wary how we give Opium. See the Musk Julep.

Most Hysteric Women, and many Hypochondriac Men. cannot away with the smell of Musk, for their Animal Spirits being of too fine and rare a Texture, are greatly agitated with such strong Odours; and so running into inordinate Motions, easily produce Spasms in the Plexus Nevosi, and internal Viscera. See Solenander's Pills.
