The Improved Bath Guide

In 1825, The Improved Bath Guide was published for the benefit of visitors to that city.

The Guide is extensive and covers all the places of interest. It also provides useful information and such things as when and where coaches leave from, charges for taking a chair, and the cost and nature of all the various entertainments including concerts and pleasure gardens. It also provides an extensive guide to the famous mineral waters which attracted visitors, seeking its theraputic qualities.

The Guide has been scanned by the Internet Archive and the full text can be found here. It is worth a read but, as is my wont, I have extracted some of the 'nuts and bolts' information that might be useful to students of and writers in the area.

The Guide also contains two maps:

Map of Bath

Map of Bath Region

The following may be of interest:

Taking the Waters

Sydney Gardens Vauxhall
